If you're making plans for your stay in New York, don't make plans to spend too much time in Times Square, as there is not too much to see in it, but you may choose to visit some of the many stores and Times Square cafes that are in the area. If your hotel is located in downtown below 42nd street, Times Square is a good place to walk through if your making your way towards, say Central Park or some of the museums in mid-town, such as the American Museum of Natural History. It is a good idea to visit the square both in daytime, and again when the darkness has fallen, to see the neon lights and billboard displays in their most magnificent, illuminated against the dark skies. The area is one of the most popular tourist spots in New York, so prepare for the square to be packed with tourists all day long, but you'll get used to the crowding quickly.
