Taxes and Fees on Car Rentals on the Rise

Even though the base rates on car rentals have staid on a quite low level, the additional fees attached to car rentals, such as taxes, are on the rise.

According to a study by Travelocity, the travel company, taxes and fees for car rentals this year will add an average of 25.8 % to the final car rental bill.

For the year 2003, the taxes and fees were at a 24.4 % level. This trend of additional fees and taxes has also been reported in cheap flights and some other travel related services.

Also, according to the Travelocity study, it is many times cheaper to rent cars at off-airport locations due to the taxes and fees that are higher in-airport locations.
