India to Get a New Budget Airline?
The Indian region of Kerala may start a new private budget airline to counterbalance high fares on the Gulf-Kerala routes. This private airline would be launched with the help of a group of Gulf-based Keraliite businessmen.
In addition to these plans by the regional Kerala government, Air India's budget airline, Air India Express, is expanding its service to three airports in the Kerala region. Furthermore, UAE-based Air Arabia offers low priced flights from Kerala, which, according to some reports, are as much as 50 % less than what the existing fares are.
