McDonald's Celebrates 50th Birthday
McDonald's restaurants celebrated 50 years in business with opening a new 24,000 square foot restaurant in Chicago.
In fact, the origins of McDonald’s start from Chicago, as the franchise was founded by Ray Kroc on April 15, 1955, in the Chicago suburb of Des Plaines. The restaurant that opened today in Chicago is ideally located, with stunning view of the Chicago skyline. The new Chicago McDonald's has 60-foot Golden Arches, seating for 300, plus a double-lane drive-thru service. According to the McDonald's press release, other features in the 50th anniversary restaurant include: Five decades of McDonald's memorabilia displayed in seating areas overlooking the garden Two custom CD-creation stations and two Internet web stations with music downloading and instant photo printing capabilities. The entire restaurant is wi-fi enabled. Images on three interactive tables react with the wave of a hand. A “Living Room” featuring leather furniture by Mies van der Rohe and Le Corbusier Today, 50 years since the opening of the first McDonald's, there are more than 30,000 McDonald's restaurants in the world.
