GPS In Thrifty and Dollar Rent-A-Car Rental Cars
Garmin, the maker of GPS equipment, announced that Thrifty and Dollar-Rent-A-Car will start providing GPS systems to their cars in 287 locations nationwide.
The new co-operation means that you can get a GPS system at Dollar and Thrifty for an additional $9.95 per day. The GPS unit is a dashboard-mounted device that can provide video maps to a destination and can also provide voice-prompted turn-by-turn directions. The Garmin units have locations of 6 million points of interest, including hotels, restaurants, ATM locations, gas stations and Dollar and Thrifty car rental sites. You can also get similar devices from other car rental agencies. Hertz, in co-operation with Magellan, offers a service called GPS NeverLost, and Avis has a cell phone-based service called Avis Assist.
